The Journey Is The Destination

This quote, this post, this one simple line sums it up so beautifully.

“The journey has to feel the way you want the destination to feel.”

This is so spot on.

When thinking about personal development and intentional self growth, the journey truly does have to feel the way you want the destination to feel.

Because the journey itself is the destination

Think about this, with self growth (improvement), there can be no destination, the journey itself is the destination.

Realize This Upon Wanting to Change — Be Selfish

One of the things that needed to be realized, for me, upon accepting and wanting to change and prior to being intentional about the actions towards change is understanding what being selfish is.

Ultimately, understanding that I needed to be selfish to pursue such change.

In this post by Chris Brogan he talks about vision and innovation forming beyond the map that is laid out for a business perspective.

But, this is also true for our own personal lives.

During these past couple of years I have been doing a lot of thinking and have become very intentional about my self growth – hence the Unless You Care Project – this blog.

One of the aspects that has shifted, or that I discovered, is the map in which society has laid out for us.

A Little Known Secret for Intentional Self Growth

I think in many cases as we grow up we are taught to be strong, to have a shield over our feelings and to not let anything affect us emotionally (maybe we aren’t necessarily taught these things, but as a society we are indirectly encouraged, or maybe it’s a preconceived notion, to do these things) when in fact this is the very thing that keeps us from growing.

It’s a shield that works both ways. It keeps people out and it keeps our very core of our being in – our feelings and emotions.

One of the most profound things I have experienced is to be vulnerable

To have the courage to be vulnerable to myself; to feel and express those emotions.
